Louis Tomlinson’s father has been diagnosed with liver cancer, less than two years after the One Direction singer’s mother died after a battle with leukaemia.
Troy Austin, the estranged father of the popstar,is currently recovering after a four-hour operation to remove a tumour, The Sun reports.
The 49-year-old told the publication he believed his cancer stemmed from his smoking and drinking habit and poor diet.
“I can’t blame it on anything else. Each day I was smoking up to 25 cigarettes and drinking six to eight cans of Tyskie, a Polish lager,” he said. “And my diet was terrible. It was Chinese and Indian takeaways and a lot of chips.”
Austin, who has not been in contact with Tomlinson for five years, says he would like to get in touch with his son.
“My life is changing now. If he ever wanted to make contact then I would be happy for that to happen,” he said.
Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, died of leukaemia in December 2016 at the age of 43.
