Ten single guys and girls made their grand entrance into the Love Island Australia villa tonight but it didn’t take long for a new Islander to turn up with an intruder being released at the end of the episode. That intruder goes by the name of Kim, a bubbly blonde from Brisbane who splits her time between hairdressing and being a bikini model.
Kim hasn’t dated a whole lot since her last relationship ended, so she thought that applying for Love Island Australia would be a good opportunity to meet people. “I literally was in between doing hair clients and I was bored,” she tells WHO. “I think an email came through that they were looking for vocations and I was kind of like, ‘Well, no one gets picked for them anyway.’ I was sitting there doing nothing, so I just applied and here I am.”
While Kim is looking for love, she says that she isn’t phased about looks. “An ideal partner for me is all about personality,” she says. “I just want someone I can get along with, someone I can have fun with. Unlimited trust is a big one for me.”
The 21-year-old is the only Islander to have a child. Kim is mum to a two-year-old son, named Braxton, who she shares with her former partner. Kim was with Braxton’s father for four years but ultimately it didn’t work out between the couple. “We just grew apart,” Kim says. “As we grew up we just grew into two different people and at the moment we’re just at two different stages in our lives.”
As for whether Kim is going to tell the other Islanders straight up about her child, she’s not sure. “I don’t think anyone kind of goes, “Hey, I’m Kim. I have a kid.” But, it’s not something that I’m gonna hide either, at all,” she says.
Despite looking forward to her time in the Spanish villa, Kim isn’t sure how she’s going to cope being away from Braxton. “It’s going to be really, really hard,” she says. “I think the first week I’ll kind of be like, ‘This is amazing. I can shower by myself, I can get just myself ready in the morning.’ But, I think towards the end of the second week it’ll start to hit me and I’ll start to miss him like crazy. I don’t really have a plan on how I’m going to deal with that, I think I’m just going to have to deal with it as it comes.”
