Mitch shared the news with fans on Wednesday evening, revealing he would be isolating with his partner, Tina Provis, and friends, Aaron Waters and Ryan Reid.
The Love Island winners have been travelling between Sydney and Melbourne, where Mitch lives, since leaving the show. This time, they were joined by their co-stars for a getaway in Melbourne and will now be remaining there together in isolation for the next 10 days.
Sydney-based Tina – who confirmed she and Mitch were both fully vaccinated – shared that her partner was feeling okay. The star was still understandably upset in her Instagram Stories as she shared her disappointment at spending the holidays in isolation, as she and Mitch had planned to travel to Tasmania to be with his family for Christmas.
“We all did a COVID test yesterday and Mitch’s has come back, unfortunately, as positive,” Tina said on her Instagram Stories. “But he’s doing okay.”
“Being stuck here with these guys feels like another COVID Island,” added Aaron.
While Tina returned a negative test, Aaron and Ryan were still waiting for their results when the group shared the news.

“What a way to end the year!” Mitch wrote on his Instagram page after they’d shared the news with fans. “As you might’ve seen on my stories I’ve tested positive for COVID, definitely not how I expected to spend my Christmas.
“While I’m super disappointed, I’m hopeful I can still see my family for Christmas. I’m so thankful that I’ve not been too affected and feeling like I’m on the mend. Thank you guys for all of the love you shared, really appreciate the support you’ve shown. Everyone stay safe over Christmas.”
“Life is full of surprises! Not the Christmas holidays we planned for, but have to deal with the cards you’re dealt,” Tina wrote on her own post. “In true 2021 fashion, COVID has thrown us one final curveball. I’m super grateful that Mitch is okay and appreciate all the love you guys have sent us both.”
Meanwhile, Ryan took to TikTok to joke about being stuck in the house in isolation with his Love Island friends.
“When he tests positive for COVID so you have to isolate for the next 10 days,” Ryan captioned the video, set to the tune of I Hate U by SZA.
Sending the stars well-wishes for a speedy recovery!
