If there’s one thing we love about Married At First Sight, it’s the surprise twists you didn’t expect.

Anyway, during this season’s first-ever dinner party, Michael shared a rundown of his first impressions – and he’s got his eye on which couples will last the distance!
“Little Michael update, coming in like the weather channel,” he joked in a pice to camera with his blonde bombshell wife.
“We’ve got some really good couples that have come to the table, I think there’s a couple of keepers in the mix. Obviously, we’ve got first place, Stacey and Mick.”
“Cathy [Evans] and Josh [Pihlak] – they’re cute,” added Stacey.
“Yeah, they’re a close second,” Michael conceded, continuing:
“Ivan [Sarakula] and Aleks [Markovic] – I think he genuinely likes her. I think there’s some genuine couples!”
“There’s some good matching,” Stacey agreed.
It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though!
“There’s a couple of questionable ones…” Michael added.
And he’s not wrong. Tensions were running high from the moment David Cannon walked in sans wedding ring and wife Hayley Vernon, after the couple had an explosive fight early in their honeymoon.
“Where’s your ring and where’s your wife?” Stacey quizzed him.
“I’ve never met someone so inconsiderate in my whole entire life,” the truck driver slammed his wife after she told him his $25-an-hour wage “wouldn’t cut it”.
Meanwhile, having already fought and made up on their Fijian holiday, law graduate Stacey and her company director beau were happy to sit back and soak up the drama.
Even the show’s relationship experts sounded surprised as they watched the pair at the pre-dinner nibbles.
“They look really loved up!”
The pair’s closeness was a shock to everyone, after the couple kicked off their honeymoon with a fiery argument. But after opening up to Michael the next day about the tragic loss of her father and brother, Stacey felt a new closeness to the 28-year-old.
“The fact that I was able to be vulnerable about my past with him… I felt like I was ready to be vulnerable and establish a physical connection,” she explained.
As for the fight itself, it was apparently too intense to be shown on television!
New reports have surfaced claiming Nine Network executives were left scrambling when Michael drank too much during the pair’s romantic dinner and flew off the handle, badmouthing Stace in front of hundreds of hotel guests.
“Stacey left him alone because he was drinking so much and she wanted an early night, and then he kept calling her a bimbo once she’d walked off,” claimed an onlooker eating a meal at the hotel bar at the time.
“He was also telling everybody how rich he is, how expensive his watch is, and how he doesn’t need the show or Stacey.”
