There’s no doubt about it, Married At First Sight’s Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson have found their fairytale love story.
WHO caught up with the two and were invited into their luxurious Double Bay home – where they opened up about their homely habits, getting married for a second time and starting a family.
What was the first thing you learned about living with each other?
JULES: What we realised, living with each other – even from the very start of the experiment, moving into Meriton – is we did make that home. I’m one of those people when I get to a hotel I’ve got to unpack everything even if it’s just one night. So Cam always says we can make it our home and I realised that in the experiment, anywhere I went, it sounds a bit cheesy, anywhere I went with Cam, I felt like I was at home. Anywhere we made home, it was really, really nice.
What’s one thing you both love about each other?
JULES: I say this a lot about Cam, I’ve always accepted his awareness of self and other people. He is the kindest, most caring – just always happy to listen to anyone. He cares so much about so many things and people in general. And I love that about him.
How about you, Cam?
CAM: How long have you got? I feel exactly the same way. Even when she had a moment this morning, coming up – Jules just makes me a better … Just such a more in-depth, understanding person. That’s just a pure representation of her. She’s such a gorgeous soul and beautiful, not just on the outside, but inside. It’s looking out for others and being kind. And when you surround yourself with that, it just makes you want to be an even better person.
Would you guys ever get remarried after the show?
JULES: Yeah, hopefully. Marriage, to me, is really important. It’s something that I have always wanted to do. Our wedding day, I would have it exactly the same, it was so perfect. The way that it looked. Obviously, I would like to have music this time. I would love to properly, legally commit to Cam for life. We treated it as a serious marriage, but it is just a commitment ceremony. I would definitely like to have a wedding.
CAM: I thought it was a genuine wedding, I was ready to go on paper. Once again, that was another sort of success point for both Jules and I on our wedding day, because we treated it like it was our wedding, from our vows, to our speeches, to the way the whole day just unfolded. We genuinely felt that this was our one special day. That’s how everything was. Not only that, so when the music did go off, every girl that dreams about the wedding, deserves a first dance. That was our feeling going into it. So, of course, I would love to – I know how much it means to Jules. I definitely would. At the same time, that was one of the most special days of my life, for sure.
Would you guys go big wedding? Small wedding?
CAM: It would be massive.
JULES: It would be huge.
CAM: Not the whole-of-Australia huge. They won’t come and watch this one.
Do you guys plan on having children and having a big family at some stage? JULES: Yeah, I’m hoping I have twins to get it done in one day. What do you think, hon?
CAM: I think that because I’m from such a small family, I loved being an only child, that was the main thing, I obviously can’t change it and I’ve learnt a lot, but at the same time I would have loved a bigger brother or a younger sister or vice versa.
So, a few kids? Do you have any baby names in mind?
JULES Not at the moment. We don’t have a list, but we have still thought about names.
We like the double, like Cam’s last name is Merchant, so something that starts with M.
Alliteration…
JULES: Yeah.
A Martha?
CAM: Absolutely not.
JULES: Absolutely not.
