Married At First Sight groom Sam has revealed he won’t take back his ‘body shaming’ comments about his on-screen wife Elizabeth.
The reality tv star made the controversial comments about Elizabeth on their ‘wedding’ day.
He told producers:
“I’ve never really dated girls as big as Elizabeth in the past.”
“Maybe I’ll get her running in the mornings. Drag her out of bed. She’ll be right.”

Standing by his shock comments, 26-year-old Sam told Today Extra that he was just “being honest”.
“I’m very true to myself, I haven’t dated girls like Elizabeth before… she’s bigger,” he said, adding, “Her personality is massive, she’s very tall, and yeah she’s bigger than the girls I’ve been with in the past – that’s the honest truth.”
The runaway groom also claimed that off-camera, Elizabeth jokingly called him “Chunky and tubby from first glance from the back”.
He did however say he had apologised to his bride about his comments.
“But my statement, yeah you know, she’s obviously been offended by that and I’ve apologised to her for that.”

Bride Elizabeth responded to her groom’s comments, saying she wanting to promote body positivity.
“It is good to embrace who you are and I am not going to change that for Sam by the way,” she said, adding, “I’ve got that booty and a small top.”

But speaking on radio, Elizabeth admitted: “The comment that really resonated with me was the fact that he turned around and said, ‘That must be why she’s not in a relationship… because it must be a problem with her weight'”.
The 27-year-old went on to tell Nine Honey that seeing the show “was the first time I heard him comment about my weight.”
“He used to buy me chocolate off camera, and he’d be like, ‘Have you eaten?’ and he’d buy me Grill’d burgers.”
