MasterChef contestant Yossra Abouelfadl was left devastated last night, as not inly was she axed from the culinary competition, but it also meant she’d miss out on ‘Nigella Lawson wee,’ which begins on Sunday.
Speaking to 10 Daily afterwards, Yossra admitted she was ‘devastated’ to miss the chance to work alongside the self-titled domestic goddess.
‘It was devastating, to be honest, one of the things that I can’t get over is the fact that I missed Nigella Lawson,’ she said.
‘It was one of my goals, I said, “If I ever go to ‘MasterChef, I have to stay until I can cook for Nigella Lawson or attend her week”, and I just missed it.’
After moving from Egypt to Australia at the age of 20, the contestant went on to reveal it was Nigella who ‘inspired’ her to cook.
‘[My] number one inspiration,’ she added.
Last night viewers watched as Yossra’s lamb cutlets with potato puree and saffron just weren’t good enough to impress the judges during the elimination round of the ‘Feed the Farmers’ challenge.
‘Yossra it wasn’t our favourite dish. I’m sorry, but you’re going home,’ said judge Gary Mehigan
George Calombaris added: ‘We’ve only had a little bit of time to get to know you, but you’re a wonderful human being and we’ve loved having you around.’
