Megan Gale has shared an emotional tribute on Instagram to her late father four years after his tragic passing.
The mum-of-two posted a photo of a lit candle with four wicks burning.
“Gone but not forgotten 💙 I lost my dear Dad 4 years ago today. I’ve lit this 4 wick candle every year for him on this day since his passing – 1 wick each for my Mum, my two brothers and myself,” she said.
“On days like today I remind myself how precious life is, how we should never take it for granted and cherish your loved ones while you still have them.”
In 2014 she found out her father was diagnosed with asbestos-related lung cancer.
He died in August 2014, three months after her son River was born.
“A week before River was due, he got it together enough to fly from Perth to Melbourne and I’m so glad he did, because River was born a day later,” she said on Anh’s Brush With Fame
In the emotional episode, she also opened up about her final moments with her father.
“I wrote him a letter, it was about five pages long,” she revealed. “It was just a mix of memories and thoughts and feelings I had about him. And some stuff I’d never said, because you always think you’re going to have forever with your parents.
“I got home and he was so weak and I just saw him in bed, and I just went up behind him and gave him a hug and I started crying.
“He just said, ‘That’s OK, my lovely.’ He said, ‘You can cry, but, um… but not too much. Please don’t.’ And I said, ‘OK. I promise I won’t.”
