Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s newly launched Instagram account has broken the record for the fastest time to gain one million followers.
Set up on Tuesday 2 April, the account, named @sussexroyal reached the 1 million milestone in just 5 hours and 45 minutes.
At the time of writing the royal account currently has 3.2 million followers.
So far, the account has just two posts.
The first, updated at 15:16 GMT on 2 April introduces the account as the official Instagram page for Harry and Meghan.
The gallery post includes several pictures of the royal couple and the causes that they are closely aligned with.
The caption reads: ‘”Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.”- Harry & Meghan.’
The second post to be shared is a picture of Prince Harry YMCA England & Wales.
The caption reads: ‘Today The Duke of Sussex met with families, children and young adults at @Ymcaenglandandwales in South Ealing as a continuation of his dedicated work in the mental health space.
‘“There continues to be huge progress in smashing the stigma that surrounds mental health, but let’s keep normalising the conversation. Let’s keep reminding each other that it’s okay to not be okay, and to listen to each other. After all, how we think determines how we act, how we feel, and how we treat ourselves and those around us.” -The Duke of Sussex.’
This account is Meghan’s first foray into social media since she deleted her personal account and joined the royal family last year.
And with pregnant Meghan’s due date fast loming, royal fans will no doubt be desperate for a pic of the royal bub.
