On December 10, Meghan Markle surprised everyone when she made an unexpected official appearance at the 2018 Fashion Awards.
The pregnant royal and her beautiful baby bump showed zero signs of demanding behaviour as she took to the stage celebrate her dear friend and wedding dress designer Clare Waight Keller.
Turns out Meghan broke some major royal protocol.
Watch Meghan Markle at the award ceremony to see if you can pick her royal no-no.
The 37-year-old looked divine, dressed in a fitted black one shoulder gown, made by her wedding dress designer Clare Waight Keller.
She skipped the heels for Karat sandal in gold designed by Tamara Mellon.
Her outfit was accessorised with a gold cuff bracelet by Pippa Small, completing the look with her stunning locks swept into a bun and fresh glowy make up.
But there was one style choice that saw the mum-to-be commit a cardinal royal sin.
Meghan Markle wore black nail polish…
Though it’s an unofficial rule, it is widely known that the Queen finds colorful nail polish distracting.
Bright hues are not banned for the royals, but nude colors are a more practical choice for official engagements.
Although Kate does on occasion glam up her toes with a bright red pedicure on her feet, she has yet to be seen in public with a daring bright manicure.
The outing also saw the Duchess dip back into her old Hollywood ways.
She may have had to give up her lifestyle site The Tig and her iconic Instagram page…
But Meghan Markle is still willing to partake in a casual photo booth!
In the black-and-white boomerang initially shared on Instagram by the British Fashion Council, Meghan can be seen flashing a shy smile while cradling her baby bump next to Waight Keller and Pike.
Meghan’s was a welcome addition to the event.
Taking to the stage, she gushed, “It is such an honor to be here celebrating British fashion and British fashion designers in my new home of the U.K.”
While accepting her award, Waight Keller thanked Meghan for trusting her to design her gown for her big day.
“I got to know Meghan on such a personal level,” the British designer said.
“To have someone like that trust you in an incredible moment in their life is something that is just the most unbelievable honor. I can’t thank you enough because it was the most beautiful moment.”
