The singer, 26, shared a black-and-white throwback photo with Gary Trainor on Sunday, letting fans know she’s “with my dad now.” A photo on her Instagram story appears to show Meghan holding her father’s hand from a hospital bed.
“Thank you for all your sweet messages,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “It was all very scary but he is the strongest man I know.”
A representative for Meghan said her 71-year-old dad is now in a “stable condition”.
TMZ reports Gary was hit by a car Friday night in Los Angeles while crossing the street.
According to the report, Gary was hit as he was crossing the street on foot and the driver involved in the accident stayed and spoke to police, reportedly telling the authorities his dark clothing made it difficult to see him.
“I look up to him all the time,” she previously told Today’s Hoda Kotbin in 2018 of her dad.
“Everything I do, I’m inspired by him.”
She also shared the uplifting advice he often gives her in challenging times.
“Anytime I complain about anything, he’s like, ‘Life will get better if you let it,'” she said.
“Sometimes in life you can’t control what happens—most of the time you can’t control what happens,” Meghan said, “but you can control how you look at it and how you can stay positive about it or find the good in it.”
