The MET Gala for 2019 is here!
Every year on the First Monday in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts the Costume Institute Gala to kick off the opening of its popular fashion exhibit at The Costume Institute.
The 2019 theme is, “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”
And we’re not talking pitching a tent, but rather a nod to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, Notes on “Camp,” which begins by defining the term as “its love of the unnatural, of artifice and exaggeration.”
“Whether it’s pop camp, queer camp, high camp or political camp — Trumpis a very camp figure — I think it’s very timely,” the curator of the institute, Andrew Bolton, told the New York Times about his choice.

“Much of high camp is a reaction to something.”
Kicking off the red carpet and her return to the MET Gala is Lady Gaga…

LADY GAGA
Give her another Oscar for ALL her outfit changes.
She made her grand return to the Met red carpet after a two year hiatus wearing a voluminous hot pink caped gown featuring a mega-long train that cascaded down the Met steps.
And then off came the cape…
Like a Russian doll, she continued to take off layers of her look, to show off more creations, designed by her close friend Brandon Maxwell, who was one of her original stylists at Haus of Gaga before he left to start his own eponymous line.
