At the start of the year, Jessica Gomes’s to-do list took up the face of her fridge. She walked alongside international model Karlie Kloss for David Jones’s autumn/winter launch, was front row at Michael Kors’s New York Fashion Week show, started pre-publicity for two Hollywood films she is starring in and, to top it all off, just launched her skincare line, Equal Beauty.
Talking to WHO amid the chaos, Gomes says she eased into the hectic schedule by escaping on an off-the-grid outback adventure with her boyfriend, actor Xavier Samuel, 33, in January. “We spent time in nature. We swam in dams and would go for bushwalks. Just relaxed,” she says. “Balancing my time is something I really focus on.”
While the Perth-born, Los Angeles–based star has never been busier, she has also never felt more fulfilled. “I’m just really happy at the moment,” she says. Her Melbourne-born boyfriend, who she met at her 32nd-birthday party in Los Angeles in September, plays a part in that. “We are so supportive of each other,” she says. “I think it’s really lovely that we are in the same industry as well. So we understand the environment.”

Gomes says when their schedules overlap the two travel together and Samuel even gave her marketing tips for Equal Beauty. “He analysed the boxes and picked up a few mistakes!” she laughs. “But he’s really proud of what I created. And so am I.”
