The personalised email warns customers that their account will be canceled unless they update their personal information, which includes credit card details.

The subject of the email reads, “Your suspension notification” and includes a link to ‘restart your membership’. When clicked this leads to a fake Netflix page which prompts subscribers to enter their personal details, including credit card information.

The scammers could even steal someone’s identity as they also ask for subscriber’s address, driver’s licence and mother’s maiden name.

Although it looks quite convincing and legitimate, this is a scam made with the intent of stealing credit card numbers and identity.

If you receive an email from Netflix over over links and check the website it is directing you to. If it doesn’t seem right, delete it straight away.
