New Zealand has been jolted by a frightening new gun incident this morning, with an Auckland primary school put into lockdown after reports of gunfire.
Scores of police were despatched to West Auckland just after 10am, with Glen Eden Primary School and a nearby child care facility, Talented Tots, put into lockdown. Parents were told not to ring or approach the school.
The lockdown was eventually lifted, with police now concentrating on negotiating with a man who is reported to have lock himself in a nearby house.

The man is believed to be refusing to leave the building, but there have been no further reports of gunshots.
