There’s been rumblings that dumped Today show host Karl Stefanovic may be in talks to make a return to the failing Nine morning show, and now a new report appears to confirm the shock move.

The Australian reports that the former breakfast show king is willing to take a hefty pay cut in order to return to his role at the helm of the Today show next year, alongside Weekend Today host and 60 Minutes presenter, Allison Langdon.
Karl was sensationally dumped from the show last year whilst honeymooning with second wife, Jasmine Yarbrough, following months of negative publicity following the breakdown of his marriage to first wife, Cassandra Thorburn.
While Nine has yet to comment on the news, The Australian reports that Stefanovic’s reinstatement to the Today show if he was prepared to accept a hefty reduction to his $2 million paycheque.
Last week, the Today show – currently fronted by Georgie Gardner and Deb Knight – suffered its lowest ratings ever, pulling in just 155,000 viewers.
Last week during a charity cricket match with Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa, Karl boldly joked that he was Nine’s “lucky charm.”
“When I messaged Karl to say thanks for being part of the team, he wrote back: ‘Haven’t lost one mate’,” Wippa said on-air.
“So mate, you’re the lucky charm?”
Stefanovic joked: “Well, that’s what I keep trying to tell Channel 9, that I’m the lucky charm. If they want to pad me up and send me in I’m ready to go in and we’ll have a win.”
