I have a confession to make. I work from home and yesterday I spent most of the day in a pair of too-tight soccer shorts and a t-shirt that reads “I WENT TO DUBBO GAOL AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS STUPID T-SHIRT!”
It wasn’t my finest look but given I’m not that important, no one seemed to mind. (My girlfriend said it looked like I’d escaped from prison, but that was just her opinion). Luckily though, I’m not a princess-in-waiting. Overnight everyone’s favourite rookie royal, Meghan Markle, stepped out at a function alongside everyone’s favourite rebel royal, Prince Harry.
While the power couple were there to attend a youth forum, it seems the biggest talking point from the event was Meghan’s outfit. To my highly untrained eye she looked pretty good. Stripy dress, black, blazer, shoes, a bag.
But fast forward to this morning and people are up in arms because Meghan’s shoulders were bare! GASP. She wasn’t wearing stockings! SHOCK.
It’s also not the first time Meghan has “broken royal protocol.” Once again her aversion to stockings made headlines after she chose to say no to hosiery for her official engagement photos. Admittedly my experience with stockings is limited to an ill-fated run in a high school production of Rocky Horror Picture Show, but as far as a I could tell they’re just a fabric prison for your legs.
I say well done Meghan for bucking Buckingham’s prudish protocols. Get your shoulders out, let your shins roam free and if you need to borrow my soccer shorts just give me a shout.
