Oscar Pistorius was reportedly taken to a hospital after falling in his South African prison, where he’s serving six years for his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp’s murder.

The 2012 Olympic sprinter and double amputee who gained worldwide fame as the “Blade Runner,” sustained minor injuries to his wrists and was returned to the prison after receiving treatment Saturday, according to the BBC.

Pistorius’ brother, Carl Pistorius, tweeted Sunday that the runner had “slipped in his cell and injured himself, nothing serious.”

He also called reports that claimed Pistorius purposely tried to harm himself were “completely untrue and sensational.”

Pistorius’ brother said he had just visited the 29-year-old athlete and he was “doing well given the circumstances” and “in good spirit.”

Prosecutors initially sought a 15-year sentence after Pistorius was convicted for the murder, which occurred on Valentine’s Day at his home. They alleged he killed Steenkamp, a model and law school graduate, following an argument.

Pistorius has long maintained it was a tragic accident, saying he believed an intruder had broken into his home in the middle of the night when he fired the shots that struck Steenkamp through a closed bathroom door.

Pistorius began serving his sentence in a Pretoria prison and could be eligible for parole in three years.
