14 years after Paris Hilton’s home sex tape was posted on the internet for the world to see, the former reality star and heiress has likened it to ‘being raped’.
The video was filmed in 2001 with her then 30-year-old boyfriend Rick Salomon when she was just 19, and it was leaked two years later in November 2003.
“It was like being raped,” Hilton, now 37, says in the film The American Meme, according to USA Today.
“It felt like I’d lost part of my soul and been talked about in such cruel and mean ways. I literally wanted to die at some points. I was like, ‘I just don’t want to live,’ because I thought everything was taken away from me. I didn’t want to be known as that.”
Hilton’s family released a statement at the time which read, “The Hilton family is greatly saddened at how low human beings will stoop to exploit their daughter, Paris, who is sweet-natured, for their own self-promotion as well as profit motives.”
Last year the hotel heiress told Marie Claire US that her sex tape being leaked was ‘hurtful’ because she wanted to be elegant like Princess Diana, but her ex-boyfriend took that away from her.
“It’s really hurtful, because my whole life I really looked up to Princess Diana, all these elegant, amazing women, and I feel like [Salomon] just took that all away from me.
“I could have been like that, but because of that tape, I will always be judged and thought of as whatever they say about me because of a private moment between my boyfriend and me.”
