One Nation figurehead Pauline Hanson has been strangely off the radar since scandal engulfed her political party – and now we know why.
According to veteran political journalist Samantha Maiden at the New Daily, the controversial politician is currently ‘unrecognisable’ after a severe reaction following a nasty facial tick bite. In worst case scenarios, such injuries are known to cause neurological problems including facial paralysis.
‘She has been bitten by a tick on the right cheek, which has flared up, making her almost unrecognisable,’ a party source told Maiden.
Everyone’s been asking about Hanson’s whereabouts since scandal erupted over claims party reps tried to seek funds from America’s National Rifle Association to water down Australia’s strict gun laws.
Hanson might not be in front of cameras right now, but today she took to Twitter to write of the scandal, ‘After the full hit piece has been released, I’ll make a full statement and take all appropriate action.’
This latest drama comes after Sunrise host David Koch angrily confronted the right wing figure on live TV, laying in to her for helping to popularise anti-Muslim politics in Australia.
Following in the wake of a massacre of 50 worshippers at a Christchurch, New Zealand, mosque by alleged Australian terrorist Brenton Tarrant, Kochie wanted to know if Hanson felt any responsibility for the social tension that she has helped to whip up with her inflammatory political positions.
Tarrant, who issued a 74-page manifesto outlining his grievances, has appeared in a New Zealand court charged with murder.
‘This terrorist manifesto almost reads like One Nation immigration and Muslim policy. Do you feel complicit with this atrocity?,’ Koch bluntly asked Hanson.
The Queensland senator was incensed by the questioning, and claims she won’t be appearing on the show again.
