The actress, who welcomed daughter, Neve in February and is also mum to four-year-old son, Jack, revealed that once her six-month maternity leave had come to an end she wasn’t so sure she was ready to return to role as Tori in the Aussie show.
“I don’t think I felt ready,” she told TV Week. “But I felt like I could manage it. I really enjoyed my six months’ maternity leave and would have probably happily done it for another six.
“But having a fantastic job – and knowing how hard the producer and the writers worked to keep Tori Morgan on screen – played on my mind. I really didn’t want to let them down and I also didn’t want to lose the opportunity I’d been given.”
However, the 36-year-old revealed she doesn’t know how much longer she can keep up such a demanding job whilst looking after two young children, confessing she may quit the soap for good once both her children are in primary school.
Earlier this year, Penny opened up to WHO about the joy she and husband Matt Tooker felt after welcoming their second child, as Penny had struggled to conceive due to endometriosis problems.
“If I’m honest, I don’t like being pregnant, I don’t enjoy the experience,” she confessed. “I wish I was an earth mother who loved every minute. But I was pregnant so I could have a baby. Now I’ve had a baby, I’m happy.”
