Peter Stefanovic has revealed the shocking truth behind the mass cull of staff Nine underwent last year during a fiery on-air exchange with Kyle Sandilands.
During an appearance on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the shock jock took a swipe at the 37-year-old TV star.

“I still to this day, think that it’s terrible that they wiped out the entire news team on The Today Show because of you,” Kyle joked, in reference to Peter and brother Karl Stefanovic’s Ubergate scandal.
“Well you’re probably right,” Peter laughed.
“You must have copped some sh*t,” Kyle continued. “Your brother went. Your wife [Sylvia Jeffreys] went. You went after 15-years of your life.”
“Richard Wilkins went,” Jackie added. “Everyone went. It was so awful.”
Peter then likened the sackings to a now infamous slaughter scene from Game of Thrones.
“Someone likened it to the Red Wedding from Game of Thrones,” he said. “And it was probably pretty close to it.”
Thankfully, seven months after the shock sackings, Peter has now started a new job as co-host on Sky News’ First Edition.
Last month Peter’s wife Sylvia opened about her shock departure from the Today show.
I didn’t see change on that scale coming… It was a lot to digest all at once,’ she told Stellar magazine.
