Karl Stefanovic confirmed last week that he would be making a return to the Today show, following a shock U-turn from Nine bosses, who sensationally sacked the TV star just 12 months earlier.

However, there’s one person who won’t be tuning in when Karl makes his return to the breakfast show in 2020 – alongside Allison Langdon – and that’s his younger brother and fellow former Nine star, Peter Stefanovic.
Speaking to The Australian, Peter – who recently announced he and wife Sylvia Jefferys are expecting their first child together – said he held no bitterness towards Nine, who also axed him from his Weekend Today hosting duties last year, but as he is now hosting his own breakfast show, First Edition, on rival network Sky News he won’t be tuning into the competition.
“Anyone who knows us knows that we revel in sibling rivalry. This will be no exception… We have wrestled eyeballs off Today this year, and Karl is going to have to work his backside off to get them back. I’ll be doing my best to stop that,” Peter told the publication.
The pair are famous for their good-humoured sibling rivalry, and Peter joked that he would be giving Karl tips on how to readjust to the early morning wake-up calls.
“Let me put it this way. In 2001 the great Alfie Langer led Queensland to victory in the third and ¬deciding Origin game,” Peter joked.
“It was a truly epic sporting comeback. Karl will need to invoke the legend of Langer, and I know he’ll give it a great crack.”
Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald on Friday, Karl confirmed the rumours he was making a return to Today.
“It’s not something I thought would ever come up again. I thought my time was up, but then, when I was sounded out about it, it got me thinking. It’s a big job with enormous pressures and I know only too well some of those pitfalls, but it is also without question the best live TV job in Australia.”
After getting unceremoniously dumped by the Network while on his honeymoon with his second wife Jasmine Yarbrough in December, Nine’s cash cow will return after ratings slumped on the breakfast show in his absence.
And it means that Today’s first all-female line-up – Georgie Gardner and Deb Knight – are out.
