Pia Miranda announces new reality TV gig

"I've been sitting on the couch for 20 years saying 'I could win'"

Australian actress Pia Miranda has just announced some exciting news!

The star of the 2000 film Looking for Alibrandi – an adaptation of the popular 90’s book – has revealed she’s set to join Australian Survivor: Champions Vs Contenders.

Pia will be joining other Champions, including NRL legend Andrew Ettingshausen, AFL star Simon Black, Olympic gold medallists Steven Bradbury and Nova Peris, as well as marathon swimmer Susie Maroney and returning player Luke Toki.

“I have been watching ‘Survivor’ since the first season in 2000 and I’ve been sitting on the couch for almost 20 years saying I could win, so I guess now is my chance! I really want to play as a fan and be someone that a fan would enjoy watching,” the mum-of-two spilled.

As well as receiving an an Australian Film Award for best actress for her role as Josephine Alibrandi in Looking for Alibrandi, Pia has also had starring roles in TV dramas ‘All Saints’ and ‘The Secret Life Of Us’.

Earlier this year the Aussie icon revealed to WHO that she wouldn’t let her kids – Lily, 8, and James, 5 – watch Looking for Alibrandi as she’d be too embarrassed about them seeing her sex scene.

Australian Survivor: Champions Vs Contenders returns to Ten on July 24.
