Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have a new baby cousin! Pippa Middleton has given birth to a baby boy!
The newborn is the first child for Kate Middleton‘s younger sister, 35, and her financier husband James Matthews, 43.
While royal watchers’ eyes are on a pregnant Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they tour Australia, the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister and her financier husband James Matthews, 43, reportedly welcomed their first child in the $13,800-a-night Lido Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, where Pippa’s nephews Prince George, 5, five-month-old Prince Louis and niece Princess Charlotte, 3, were born.
The couple welcomed a baby boy on Monday at 1:58 p.m., local time, weighing 8 lbs. 9 oz. [about 4.3kgs], PEOPLE confirms.
“Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well,” her representative shared.
Speaking on behalf of Pippa’s sister, Kate Middleton, and brother in law, Prince William, Kensington Palace said in a statement: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thrilled for Pippa and James.”
The smiling first-time mum, 35, was seen at the arriving at the private hospital on Oct. 15 with an attentive Matthews, whom she married in a lavish, intimate ceremony on May 20, 2017, who carried two overnight bags.
The baby is the fourth grandchild for Pippa’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton, who are said to be hands-on grandparents to Kate’s three children.
Notoriously close to her older sibling, Pippa will no doubt lean on mum-of-three Kate, 36, for much-needed parenting advice in the early days of motherhood. The new parents’ West London home is a short distance away from Prince William and Kate’s residence at Kensington Palace, and Prince Louis and his new cousin will be just a few months’ apart.
“We spend a lot of time together,” Pippa said of her relationship with her sister during an appearance on Today show. “We can sort of be normal with each other, treat each other normally, and that’s sort of kept us all fixed to the ground. We’re very close.”
Pippa confirmed her pregnancy in June this year in her column for the U.K. supermarket monthly Waitrose Kitchen magazine.
In the column she revealed that she did not battle severe pregnancy sickness, or Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), unlike her sister the Duchess of Cambridge.
“I was lucky to pass the 12-week scan without suffering from morning sickness. That meant I was able to carry on as normal,” Pippa wrote, as reported by Hello! magazine.
As well as being very close in age to Kate and Prince William’s son who was born in April this year, the new baby was born just weeks after Pippa’s brother-in-law Spencer Matthews and wife Vogue Williams welcomed their first child.
