Qantas is currently under investigation by the The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) after 15 people were injured during a flight from Melbourne to Hong Kong last week.
Qantas pilots detected “airframe buffeting”, a strong vibration usually caused by separated airflow, before the pilots were alerted that they needed to take action or the plane would stall mid-air, ABC news reports.
The plane landed safely in Hong Kong, with an ambulance waiting on arrival and 15 passengers treated for minor injuries.
Qantas released a statement described the incident as turbulence, also confirming they would be conducting their own review.
