They infuriated the public by keeping the christening of their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor behind closed doors. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did release two portraits from the private event.
WATCH: This is why the Queen wasn’t at Archie’s christening:
In one of the images, the royals in attendance assembled for a group picture, highlighting the fact that two very important people were missing: the Queen and her husband Prince Philip.
And now, the exact reason why the Monarch wasn’t present to see her great-grandson her christened has been revealed.
Royal commentator Rob Jobson told Sunrise’s David Koch that it was all down to a simple calendar error by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, reports Express.co.uk.
“So originally before we get on to Archie, we were told that the Queen couldn’t make it because of a prior engagement,” Kochie began.
“But it seems it was a diary blunder by Meghan and Harry, is that right?
Mr Robson replied: “Yeah, they didn’t do the checking by the sounds of it.
“Then Queen Elizabeth was up in Scotland as she always is for this week at Holyroodhouse Castle.
“Then she had already arranged to have a weekend with the Duke of Edinburgh in Sandringham.
“So they just didn’t get the diary dates right, I mean it is not the first time, that the Queen, who is the great grandmother, after all, has missed a christening.
“As long as the grandparents were there, well Charles and Doria were there I suppose that is okay.”
Mr Robson then went on to discuss the comments made by Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, who was not invited to the ceremony and has yet to meet his son-in-law or his grandson.
“What he said wasn’t too bad except for I think he was having a little bit of a dig at his ex-wife Doria.

“Because he is saying that he has been a member of the Anglican Church all his life.
“I think when he married Doria it was in some sort yogi ceremony or something like that.
“I think he was having a little bit of a dig there saying why shouldn’t I be there.”
