Shannen Doherty Shaves Her Head as She Battles Breast Cancer

Shannen Doherty has been candid on social media about her battle with breast cancer since going public last August. On Tuesday night, the 45-year-old actress took fans through the next steps of her treatment: shaving her head.

“Cupcake pan, chocolates and a razor… stay tuned,” Doherty captioned her first Instagram post while giving a glimpse of what was to come. “#Cancersucks #thankgodforfriends” she added.

With friend Anne Kortright-Shilstat and mom Rosa Elizabeth by her side, Doherty then walked fans thought the emotional process, a series of black and white photos.

Rosa Elizabeth embraces her daughter in one photo – both ladies looking as if they’re carrying the weight of the diagnosis and head-shaving process heavy on their hearts.

Doherty, 45, chopps her own hair off in another photo, and pauses for a smiling photo with her mom and friend in another.

She appears to have some lighthearted fun with the process at one point, letting her hair stand up on its end and smirking at the camera.

By the end, the Beverly Hills 90210 alum appears strong, smiling in a selfie with Kortright-Shilstat and her short-new haircut.

Puerto Rican fashion model Kortright-Shilstat, who appears to have shaved Doherty’s head, posted the same selfie together with Doherty, along with a message of support to her friend.

“I couldn’t be prouder of you today,” she wrote. “Your strength and courage is so inspiring and I am so very lucky to have you in my life.”

“Thank you for blindly trusting me today to help you with such a big step. I will forever be there for you no matter what,” she added.
