She’s only been a mum for just over a week, but already Shay Mitchell has experienced the wrath of online mum shamers, after getting trolled online for attending Drake’s birthday party days after giving birth.

However, the Pretty Little Liars star has hit back, stating that a much larger period of time had passed between her giving birth and going out as she did not make the announcement of her daughter’s arrival public on the same day as she gave birth.
“I haven’t been really checking my comments that often, but apparently people are really upset that I left three days after having a kid to go out and party,” Mitchell can be heard saying in a video uploaded to her Instagram stories earlier this week whilst scrolling through some of the comments.
One of the comments visible in her video read: “Mother of the year award right here!!!! As if you seriously could leave your baby to go party?!!! I hope the child’s aid look into this and your abilities to be a good parent cause damn!!! Lacking some serious skills there [sic] sweety! #selfish.”
The You star then went on to clarify a few details.
“Disgusting… leaving your newborn only days after birth,” another Instagram user wrote, to which the actress responded in the comments, “Days? Lol honey, just because I posted on that day doesn’t mean she was born on that day.”
On October 20, Shay announced that she and boyfriend Matte Babel had welcomed a baby girl. Just days later, the actress uploaded a video of herself and Babel dancing at Drake’s 33rd birthday celebrations in Hollywood.
Earlier this year, Shay revealed she had suffered a miscarriage before going on to conceive her baby daughter.
