She’s nominated for the coveted Gold Logie this year, but Sonia Kruger has been to so many TV WEEK Logie Awards in her time that preparing for TV’s night of nights has almost become easy.
We caught up with the Big Brother host to chat all things beauty, style and her daughter Maggie ahead of the big night on Sunday.

What kind of work goes into getting ready for the TV WEEK Logie Awards?
There is a lot of preparation for an event like the Logies, even more so when you’re nominated. I like to start from the top down, so my hair will usually be freshly highlighted and I try to get in for a facial a few days before the event to make sure my skin is as hydrated as possible. Then a manicure and pedicure with Miss Betty Rose who is one of the best nail artists in Australia and finally a Three Warriors spray tan to get that healthy, all-over glow.

Can you share any sneaky details about your outfit?
I’m super excited for my Logies outfit this year. It’s actually a bodysuit and skirt rather than a gown and it’s really beautiful, but has a strong fashion edge to it which makes it cool.
What does your daughter Maggie think of the outfit?
Maggie was there when we did a dress fitting. She loves it and has anointed herself styling assistant to Natalia De Martin, who put the whole look together.
Will Maggie be there with you on the night or watching from home?
She will be watching the red carpet coverage from home with her Auntie, but it’s a school night and given the Gold Logie is the last award of the night she might have to see it on catch up.

Of all the amazing looks you’ve worn to the TV WEEK Logie Awards, do you have a favourite?
It’s really hard to pick just one look as a favourite as I’ve been lucky to wear some stunning designs. J’Aton made me a Swarovski crystal gown one year and for that we won best dressed, which was a highlight. I also loved the gold Herve Leger bandage dress I wore in 2016, as it was probably the most comfortable dress I’ve ever worn to the Logies, and the most recent Logies I wore a gorgeous Rami Kari rainbow gown which was one of Maggie’s favourites.

You’ve had such an amazing TV career, how do you feel looking back on all the shows you’ve worked on?
I’m the luckiest person in TV to have worked on so many great shows. The Voice, Big Brother and Dancing With the Stars are all global franchises and big tent pole shows for the network. To be entrusted with them is a privilege and I can’t imagine doing anything else.
In 1992 you starred in Baz Luhrman’s Strictly Ballroom, would you ever return to the big screen? Perhaps work with Baz on his next blockbuster?
I would never say no to Baz. He’s a genius and I would work with him again in a heartbeat.
Has Maggie ever seen Strictly Ballroom? What does she think of mum as Tina Sparkle?
We haven’t watched the movie yet but I have shown her some clips recently and she was quite mesmerised. After the TV WEEK Logie Awards we are going to have a movie night with popcorn and watch it together.
You have such a sweet mother-daughter bond, how do you balance all your media work with parenthood?
Most of the shows I do shoot in blocks of time, so I may be busy for a couple of weeks but then I get a chunk of time off to be a regular mum again. I’m lucky I have family who can step in for school pick up when I can’t be there.
How would you feel if she decided to pursue a life in the spotlight like mum?
I would support her whatever career choice she makes but she is definitely getting an insight into the world of television production.
