The Spice Girls could be back on the big screen.

Potential production companies are being pitched an animated film Spice Girls with a Girl Power message, and the Spice Girls themselves will voice the characters, according to a report in Variety. Each character will have a unique power.

Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham, now 43), Baby Spice (Emma Bunton, 42), Scary Spice (Melanie “Mel B” Brown, 45), Ginger Spice (Geri Horner, 45) and Sporty Spice (Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm, 44) are all working mothers now with their own careers, but each has agreed to their likenesses being used in the project.

The stars are “fired up about the idea,” a source told Variety. “It’s just what Marvel or Disney needs.”

Fans were in a lather when Beckham and her former bandmates shared a photo of the smiling five posing together at Horner’s house in February (well, Beckham almost smiled). It was their first time pictured together since 2012.

“We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls,” they said in a statement last month. “The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together.”

But overexcited rumours of a reunion tour were stopped right now, thank you very much, by Chisholm. “I don’t think you’ll be seeing the Spice Girls on stage this year,” she told The Sun. “It was just getting together to reignite all the things that we have had together.”

However, “We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls,” said the group’s statement, “while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”
