Sylvia Jeffreys is reportedly in talks for a new contract at TODAY

Will she keep her options open?

On the back of Lisa Wilkinson’s resignation from TODAY, it appears another of the show’s stars is currently having their contract negotiated.

Sylvia Jeffreys, who has been tipped to be Wilkinson’s most likely successors, is due to end her contract at the end of the year – therefore she may use this as an opportunity to explore new options with other networks.

Coincidently, Wilkinson and Jeffreys, who are longtime friends happen to share a manager in Nick Fordham, who has previously helped clients Mark Bouris, Paul Roos and Wally Lewis secure the greatest contracts.

Mediaweek editor James Manning told The Daily Telegraph that the network might “want to tread carefully” at this stage.

“Although it would seem very unlikely Sylvia would jump ship, stranger things have happened and if there was financial inducement elsewhere, money talks,” Manning continued.

Jeffreys began her journey with the network in 2005, as a script assistant in the Brisbane newsroom before worked towards becoming a reporter. And she hit our screens on TODAY in 2014 following Georgie Gardner’s departure from the show.
