Get ready Australia! The nation’s favourite home reno show is back for 2023 and it’s set to be a good one!
Although many details about season 19 are still under wraps, tools are officially down on set and filming is wrapped! The first teaser trailers have given us a few hints about what we can expect from The Block 2023, revealing details about the location, cast and more. Here’s everything we know about The Block, 2023.
The Block 2023: Location
Last year The Block went bigger than ever, relocating to the country and tackling some of the largest projects to date. This year, the show is returning to Melbourne and renovating “five incredible Aussie homes direct from the ’50s”.
All five houses are located on Charming Street in Hampton, Victoria – a suburb close to Brighton and Sandringham. If it sounds familiar it might be because The Block filmed in the same suburb back in 2021!
This year it looks like the original houses are in a slightly better condition compared to earlier seasons, with Channel Nine purchasing houses 14,16,18,20 and 22 for around $14.3 million.
The Block 2023: Contestants
We’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out details about the contestants. The first trailer gave us a sneak peek and a look at all 5 teams, but that’s about all we know!
Joining the season are Liverty & Eliza, Ash & Leah, Gian & Steph, Kyle & Leslie and Kristy & Brett.
Fans will be glad to learn all three judges are set to return. Alongside Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer, site former Kieth and Dan as well as co-host Shelley Craft and Scott Cam are all back.
The Block 2023: Start Date
Although we don’t have an exact premiere date for The Block 2023 – we do have a rough idea of when the show will air. Thanks to social media posts from the team we know the season has officially wrapped filming which is pretty similar timeline-wise to prior seasons. Past seasons have all premiered around August, so fingers crossed this year will be the same!
The Block 2023: How To Apply
Unfortunately casting is well and truly over for The Block 2023. Casting began back in September 2022 and since then Channel 9 have completely finished filming the renovations.
But don’t fear, your dream of becoming the next contestant on The Block isn’t far off – you’ll just have to wait for the 2024 season.
Think you have it in you? Keep an eye out on the Nine website for the upcoming season’s application form and keep in mind these guidelines and requirements:
- Successful couples must be available for a 10-12 week shoot period. Exact dates to be confirmed closer to filming.
- Location of The Block is to be confirmed.
- You will NOT be able to work during the shoot period.
- Previous home renovation experience is an asset, but not required from both partners.
- Long term couples, family teams and enduring friendships need only apply.
- Submissions accepted from Australia wide.
- Successful participants will be paid a nominal weekly fee during filming of The Block to cover basic living costs and expenses.
- You must complete all elements of the application, including video, or your application will not be reviewed.
- Lucky Break will carefully review applications for consideration of inclusion in The Block. Shortlisted applicants must be available to interview via zoom and or in person between now and commencement of shoot.
