The Block’s Bianca Chatfield has had a stellar career representing Australia in netball, but feeling body confident has always been an issue.
“I became an elite athlete at 16 so all the weigh-ins and skin-fold tests had an impact on my body image. At that young age you don’t think kindly about yourself,” she says.
“I’ve not hopped on the scales since I finished playing netball because I don’t want to analyse it anymore,” Bianca says.

At 187cm, one thing netball did help her to come to terms with was her height.
“I gained confidence and learned to love my height in sports. If I didn’t play sports I would have felt very differently about my body,” the 36-year-old says.
“It’s hard when you’re at school and you’re 10 times taller than everybody else.
“I feel good about my body now,” Bianca adds. “Being an athlete, I’ve spent my whole life focusing on how to get your body to perform in a certain way so now I’ve retired I can just do what makes me feel good.”
