One half of The Veronicas, Lisa Origliasso, has revealed she recently suffered a miscarriage after an ectopic pregnancy— a potentially life-threatening condition where a fertilised egg implants outside of the uterus, usually in the fallopian tubes.

The “Untouched” singer opened up about the devastating loss in a series of touching Instagram posts, admitting her dreams “came true” when she discovered she was expecting her first child with husband Logan Huffman.

A month ago all of our dreams seemed to have come true. We’d found out I had fallen pregnant,” the 35-year-old began. “We cried, laughed and held on to each other in pure excitement that we were going to start a great journey.

“As a couple we always had an understanding to a certain extent of the miracle of life, how it is strong and fragile all at once. But now we truly appreciate that from our own experience. Sometimes pain can bring about the greatest growth.”

After taking three pregnancy tests she couldn’t wait to surprise her husband. However, just two weeks after the couple celebrated, her excitement turned into confusion when she began to experience excessive bleeding. At the time, her doctor thought she was suffering a miscarriage however further tests proved it was something far more sinister.

“My heart sank and I knew something was wrong,” Lisa recalled. “It was in fact, an ectopic pregnancy. And I needed urgent medical attention to prevent it from becoming critical. I was immediately admitted to hospital. Sometimes in life no matter which way we step, no matter what choice we make, we’re destined to hurt.

“I was told I was just one of the ‘really unlucky ones’ But I can not see that as truth,” she added. “It’s been some of the darkest times of our lives yes, but it’s also been some of the happiest.”

Despite grieving the loss of their unborn child during what she described as one of the darkest periods in her life, Lisa knows she will become a mum one day.

“Inevitably, I know one day we will have a family. But it just wouldn’t feel right to share the good news in the future, without paying respect, love and bringing awareness to the heartbreaking journey so many women and couples face everyday,” she concluded.

Lisa and Logan wed in November 2018 on the Sunshine Coast. Her twin sister Jess was one of her bridesmaids.

“This past weekend I got to marry the man of my dreams. In the dress of my dreams,” the bride wrote on Instagram of her big day.
