The Veronicas open up about their mum’s heartbreaking diagnosis

Lisa and Jessica Origliasso have opened up about their mother’s heartbreaking dementia diagnosis.

After years of wrong diagnoses, the mum of the 33-year-old Veronicas singers has officially been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia.

“After several years of misdiagnosis, our mum Coleen has finally (been) given a diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia with progressive supranuclear palsy,” the Australian music artists said in a statement to the Courier Mail.

“It has been an incredibly heartbreaking and frustrating time trying to find a definitive diagnosis. We have had incredible support from friends and family,” they added.

Lewy Body is a form of dementia with those suffering from the illness showing similar signs to Alzheimer’s disease, meaning diagnosis an be tricky.

Symptoms include difficult with concentration, extreme confusion and difficulties judging distances, according to Dementia Australia.

Over the weekend Jessica and Lisa participated in the Brisbane Memory Walk And Jog to support their mum and other sufferers.

“We wanted to share our beautiful mum’s story so that we can hopefully raise awareness for people and their families affected by this disease.”
