In a social media tribute to his mother Janet Frager, Tom Hanks has shared a beautiful vintage portrait of her on Instagram.
“This beauty? My mom. She was the difference in many lives. Many lives,” wrote the Forrest Gump star, who turned 60 on July 9. “We say goodbye to her today. Safe crossing, mom! Hanx. ”
Hanks’s actress wife Rita Wilson also honoured her mother-in-law on her own Instagram, writing: “This wonderful lady gave birth to my husband, and three other children. Thank you for bringing my love into the world. She is at peace now.”
Besides Tom, Frager, a retired hospital worker, had three other children with her ex-husband Amos Hanks: Jim, Sandra and Larry. Amos died in 1992.
Hanks and Rita, who married in 1988, share two children—Chet, 25, and Truman, 20. The star also has kids with Samantha Lewes: Elizabeth, 34, and Colin, 38.
