Crossing a street in Palisade Crescent, Bonnyrigg, after school, the child is seen running in front a parked car before colliding with another that had apparently been outside of his field of vision.
Seeing the Mazda 2 hatch too late, the child flies off the bonnet – the impact causing both shoes to come off – and he lands heavily on the road.

Onlookers rushed to help, and fortunately the boy was not seriously injured. But it could have been much worse.
‘This young boy is lucky to be alive, and if vision like this isn’t enough to encourage people to slow down and drive safely, I don’t know what is,’ said Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy.
‘We want to make sure there are no more fatalities on the roads, and that responsibility begins with you.’
