JonBenet Ramsey was a six-year-old American beauty queen that made headlines when she was tragically murdered inside her home.
JonBenet’s background
Born on August 6 in Atlanta Georgia in 1996 to wealthy parents Patsy and John Ramsey. The pretty blonde beauty queen was just six years old when she was mysteriously murdered inside her family home.
The youngest of two children, JonBenet was known for her outspoken nature who loved to be the centre of attention.
At just six years of age, JonBenet had already won multiple pageants and wowed the judges for her bouncy blonde curls and perfect smile.
As her parents were wealthy, they could afford to lavish their daughter with a luxurious life. John is a wealthy businessman while Pasty, who died of cancer in 2006, was a former beauty queen and won Miss Virginia 1977.
JonBenet’s murder
Sadly, JonBenet’s life ended when she was murdered on the morning of December 26, 1996. A three-page ransom note demanding $118,000 for her daughter’s safe return was found by Pasty.
She called the police, but later in the afternoon, JonBenet’s body was found in the basement.
She suffered a fracture to the skull and had been sexually assaulted. She also had been strangled. According to the coroner’s report her official cause of death was “asphyxia by strangulation associated with craniocerebral trauma” and was viewed as a homicide.
Who killed JonBenet?
To this day, the case remains unsolved. Throughout the years the public have viewed the parents guilty with their inconsistent stories, although a judge decided not to charge them due to insufficient evidence.
In recent news, letters obtained by Daily Mail TV, 54-year-old Gary Oliva – who is currently serving a 10-year sentence in a Colorado prison for child pornography – has claimed he killed JonBenet by accident.
‘I never loved anyone like I did JonBenét and yet I let her slip and her head bashed in half and I watched her die. It was an accident. Please believe me. She was not like the other kids.’
