According to the separate and widely reported incident, things came to a head when Kate was said to be “left in tears” after a fitting for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress in preparation for Meghan and Harry’s May wedding.

A source told veteran royals reporter Camilla Tominey of the UK’s Daily Telegraph, “Kate had only just given birth to Prince Louis and was feeling quite emotional” – though just what upset her is unclear.

Several insiders have told WHO that there was a notable amount of “stress” surrounding those involved in the wedding.

Still, a royal wedding guest previously confirmed to WHO that Prince William “was in a jokey, wonderful mood” at Meghan and Prince Harry’s evening reception — and that Kate was in “great form” – once again shutting down claims of a royal feud.

But according to the Duchess of Sussex herself, it was actually the other way around.

During her tell-all CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan revealed she’d heard about the rumours that she’d made Kate cry, explaining: “The reverse happened and I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone because it was a really hard week of the wedding.

“She was upset about something but she owned it and she apologised and she brought me flowers and a note apologising. She did what I would do if I knew that I’d hurt someone and just take accountability for it.”

She added: “A few days before the wedding she was upset about something – yes, the issue was correct flower girl dresses – and it made me cry and it really hurt my feelings.”

However Meghan denied claims that she and Kate had had “a confrontation.”

“I don’t think it’s fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologised and I’ve forgiven her,” she said.

“What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do, but that happened to me and the people who were part of our wedding going to our comms team and saying ‘I know this didn’t happen.'”

Meghan then added that “everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true” but made it clear she wasn’t saying this to disparage anyone.

“I’m not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her. I think it’s really important for people to understand the truth. I would hope that she would’ve wanted that corrected and maybe in the same way that the Palace wouldn’t let anybody else negate it, they wouldn’t let her because she’s a good person.

“I think so much of what I have seen play out is this idea of polarity where if you love me you don’t have to hate her and if you love her you don’t need to hate me.”

Harry and Meghan have since left the monarchy for a new life in LA whilst William and Kate have remained in the UK but Meghan and Kate are “very different women, despite their similar circumstances,” a source told The Telegraph.

“Meghan is an extrovert, whereas Kate is quite shy.”

Royal biographer Ingrid Seward, author of My Husband and I, previously told WHO that Harry was keen to leave Kensington Palace – and he’d also told friends.

“Harry will want to establish himself and come out of the shadows,” one insider said.

“They want to do their own thing and create their own style. And to do that you need to be away sometimes.”

As for their wives, “It’s a tricky situation,” said another source.

“They are determined to maintain a positive relationship even though they are obviously very different in their approach.”
