After having very different views on changing the date for Australia Day, Yumi opted to leave the show.

KAK was outraged that she was labelled a “racist”, but the former VJ stands by her comments.

Nine Honey have reported that Yumi recounted that KAK whispered off camera, “Indigenous people just need to get over it (the date of Australia Day).”

KAK’s on-air rant: “Have the 5,000 people who made their way through the streets, making their point known.

Has any single one of those 5,000 people waving their flags saying how inappropriate the day is, has any one of them been out to the outback, where children, babies, 5-year-olds are being raped?

Their mothers are being raped, their sisters are being raped, they get no education — what have you done? Zippo.

She also spoke to Kyle and Jackie O on their KIIS FM radio show to address the controversy.

“She’s been around forever. She’s like a cockroach, she can’t be extinguished. I mean she’s invincible; she’s an Aussie TV legend,” she said.

Addressing the fight, she remarked, “It sounds more scary when you read it in the paper later; it sounds more intense and personal than when you’re face-to-face.”

Kyle Sandilands decided to get Kennerley involved.

KAK said on-air, “I am still deeply offended by being called a racist, which is completely untrue.”
