Being a working mum to a one-year-old, married to a first grade NRL player who is constantly on the road, Zoe Marshall admits it’s tough to find ‘intimate’ time with Benji Marshall.
“I have lists of things that I want to talk to him about, but I never get the time to ask him,” the 34-year-old media personality told WHO’s editor Keshnee Kemp on the Raw Talks podcast.
Aware that their schedules are dictated by their son Fox, 1, the former journalist says she and her 34-year-old husband of six-years try and make the most of the minutes they steal alone, but it’s tough.
“Sometimes we get a moment together in the car where we’re like ‘How are you?’ ‘How are you actually going?’ ‘Are you ready for the game?’ and he does the same to me but they’re like little nuggets amongst the chaos.”
While the high-profile couple refuses to sleep in the same bedroom (due to Benji’s sleep apnea), Zoe says sex is also a huge factor in ensuring their marriage remains intimate.
“Benji is going to kill me for saying this. This morning the three of us were in bed for a couple of hours and Benji was giving me hints he wanted to be intimate,” she begins.
“I was like, ‘I have to go and get ready, I have to leave at 9:30’ which is when Fox goes to sleep. He was like, ‘I’ll just put him in the walker, he’ll be right.’ We both knew that was the most insane thought but it’s one of those things where you just go, we don’t know when we’ll ever do that again or have a conversation that isn’t about logistics or nannies or Fox.”
