“Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again,” John sweetly shared.
“Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever!
“Your Danny, your John!”
And it seems John is not the only one remembering their special connection, with others who were deeply moved by their friendship coming forward to pay it a special tribute in the hours after the death.
Former politician Julie Bishop spoke this morning on Today about the time Olivia was honoured at the 2018 G’Day USA awards in Australia.
“John Travolta was in the audience, he was at our table, and I was sitting opposite him,” Julie recalled.
“His eyes never left her face, he was absolutely smitten. Throughout her singing, he was saying, ’she is just so beautiful,’ and she was.”
Olivia was also said to be a major source of support for John when he lost his wife, Kelly Preston, to breast cancer in 2020.
“John and Olivia have always been close. They clicked right away, all those years ago, but this tragedy has bonded them even more,” and insider told our sister site, New Idea, at the time.
“Olivia loved and respected Kelly and took her death very hard,” the source continued.
“There’s no-one in John’s inner circle who has been as close to him as Olivia has during all of this, and he doesn’t know what he’d do without all of their heart-to-heart talks.”
Grease not only launched the friendship between John and Olivia, but their respective careers as well.
Olivia passed away today after years of fighting breast cancer at age 73, surrounded by her family.
