Deadpool fans, Christmas is coming early with the release of Once Upon a Deadpool in cinemas on December 13. And now we have an indication of what to expect from the film, which was only announced in September, with the trailer making its debut overnight.
In the sneak peek, we see Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool holding former child star Fred Savage captive in his own bed as the masked superhero prepares to read him a story. Mimicking the structure of The Princess Bride - the 1987 film in which Savage starred - Once Upon a Deadpool will see Deadpool tell the tale of Deadpool 2, leaving out all the non-PG stuff so that younger fans (or those opposed to copious amounts of violence and swearing) can enjoy it.
“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 [version] basically since the start in 2006,” Reynolds previously told Deadline. “I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”
Seems he got his wish on both counts, with 20th Century Fox donating $1 from each ticket sold to charity F--- Cancer, which is renaming itself Fudge Cancer for the duration of Once Upon a Deadpool's release.
Once Upon a Deadpool will be in cinemas from December 13 for the 12 days leading up to Christmas.
