Sticking true to her American roots, Markle chose US designer Ralph Lauren’s classic style three quarter sleeve dress – but she paid homage to her new residence by teaming her ensemble with leading British milliner Stephan Jones’ asymmetric hat.
Donning one colour from head-to-toe has been a very strong trend coming out of some of the major fashion houses the last few seasons and its great to see a royal incorporate such an unprecedented trend to their style in a classic and traditional way.
There’s no doubt about it, Meghan purposely selects designers with a classic aesthetic and creates a look, which is very fashion-forward. While her choice of accessories have been minimal – they seem to always bring the whole look together perfectly!
We have seen her break away from the typical traditional ‘princess’ style by supporting designers and stylists who in the past haven’t had much royal alignment. Her support of this was seen right from the start by having Clare Waight from Givenchy designer her wedding dress, followed by wearing a Prada two-piece skirt suit for the Queens Young Leaders awards, and more recently we saw her making a bold fashion statement by wearing a yellow Brandon Maxwell dress which was designed by American designer for the Commonwealth Youth Challenge which saw her breaking away from the traditional colour palette, and making a statement. We absolutely love the idea that Meghan is incorporating her American heritage to her style and by working with fashion houses such as Brandon Maxwell and Ralph Lauren and can’t wait to see who the next American designer will be.
Meghan’s is the only member of the Royal family now who has a really strong display of undisputed style allowing her to balance both tradition and trend, concreting Meghan in the fashion world and allowing a group of new designers and stylist into the Royals world. She is defiantly the leader of the fashion pack in the Royal Family. I cannot wait to see her attend fashion weeks around the world and see her experiment with other designers and style. My dream look on Meghan would be seeing her in a Tom Ford suit!
