"In my twenties, I was very immature. Some would even say I'm still immature, but I'm more mindful of how I treat others [now] and I'm proud of myself for handling the situation and the whole experience [of I'm a Celebrity] very differently to how I would have years ago."
His respectful comments may come as a shock to some considering he tore into Ryan in a video he posted to YouTube days after he was spent packing. In the clip, the American blogger claimed we didn't see the real Ryan, arguing that he has a mean streak which wasn't shown on camera.
"For some reason he had it out for me. I felt like he was picking on me, singling me out," he said. "He would constantly bring other people down to lift himself up. He made this joke about Miguel [Maestre], which I did not say anything back about. I shut my mouth."
He continued: "Dale [Thomas] said, 'Oh my god, Miguel, you've got something in your hair', which he did, he had a feather. And then immediately after Dale said that Ryan said, 'Yeah not much there.'"
While Ryan appeared to be consistently kind to his campmates, it was Perez who was having meltdowns left, right and centre. During an episode just days before the season finale, the 41-year-old lost his cool and screamed at his co-stars over how they planned to divide up a sliced banana.
The feud, which involved Ryan and his girlfriend Charlotte Crosby, ended up exploding after Perez said the couple was "disrespecting" and "attacking" Miguel who cut up the banana for everyone to share.
"I'm not having them disrespect Miguel," he said, before entering into a fit of rage. "It's as simple as that. You're being so disrespectful to him. The way you were talking to him was not caring."
Ryan then claimed it was Perez who was disrespecting their co-stars by yelling at them, adding he was intentionally stirring the pot to grab headlines.
"I'm not going to do a blog. I reacted the way I did because this man has done so much for you. All he was trying to do was be fair, it was two people attacking him," he said.
