During the course of their brief romance, which sources labeled as "casual", the couple— who were pictured holding hands and kissing on multiple occasions—was heavily scrutinised. While they kept quiet initially, after receiving hate on social media to the point where she was forced to delete her Instagram account, Beckinsale, 45, spoke out.
“I’m surprised by the interest. I’ve never been in this position before — never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief,” The Window actress told the Los Angeles Times, explaining that at one point in time, the backlash on social media was so intense she deleted all of her Instagram posts. “I think if you liked the person less, you would bow out of it. If that were the main thrust of the relationship, there would be a problem. But it’s not.”
On a “Weekend Update” segment of Saturday Night Live the comedian, 25, also said he wasn't put off by all of the drama surrounding their budding romance.
“Apparently people have a crazy fascination with our age difference, but it doesn’t really bother us.”
Despite splitting, a source told E! News that the pair "still talk and are very friendly."
"When they are apart they talk a lot and never run out of things to say. He always has her laughing and that's a good feeling to have."
