The Brooklyn native says that Markle immediately picked up on her American accent.
“She was like, ‘Oh, where are you from?’ I said New York and she told me she was from L.A.”
After she sold them the tree, Harry shook her hand and said, “thank you.”
“He asked me my name. He was a nice guy,” she says. “They asked a lot about me — what I was doing for the holidays and things like that. He asked how I was enjoying England, so I said, ‘It depends on the day you’re asking me!’
“It was just really cool. They looked totally happy together and rolled out with a tree.”
The jet-setting couple has plenty of frequent flyer miles between them in recent weeks. Harry made a 1,700-mile detour from the Caribbean to see Markle at her Toronto home last week. After the whirlwind two-day visit, he flew back to Britain for a royal appearance.
Now that they’re both in London, they can prepare for the festive season together. Markle already got a head start on the celebrations with friends in L.A. during a tree-trimming party.
And no doubt she’ll be putting some of her Tig holiday decorating tips to good use during her stay with Harry at his cottage in Kensington Palace.
