Samantha Harris and her partner Luke Hunt married in a secret ceremony before he served a jail sentence in Muswellbrook, New South Wales.
In 2012, Hunt was held responsible for the death of a 78-year-old grandfather Kenneth Lay following a car accident. However, he ensured he tied the knot with his long-term partner prior to his stint behind the bars.
Speaking to Marie Claire, the 26-year-old revealed she and Hunt shared an intimate ceremony saying: “It was more like a family gathering or a Christmas dinner.”
The model also told the publication the couple chose to keep their nuptials a secret “out of respect” for the Lay’s family.
At the time, Harris didn’t share snaps on social media, but despite the difficult circumstances, she said her big day was still “full of love and support”.
Harris also confirmed the couple had their honeymoon not long after Luke was released from jail and he paid for it with money he earned behind bars. “We stayed a night at the Shangri La [Hotel] in the city,” Samantha says, “and somehow he had organised for us to have dinner at Tetsuya’s restaurant."
"I was in shock. I hadn’t ever had anything like that done for me. It was like the honeymoon we never had," she added.
While no pictures have been posted from their honeymoon, Harris took to social media over the weekend to soak up the sun with her husband, captioning the snap “Beautiful Sunday with the hubby @luke___hunt."
