Season 3 of Anne With An E is coming to Netflix

How exciting! - by Hannah Hempenstall

Season 3 of Anne With An E is coming to Netflix

One of the most popular shows on Netflix will be back for a third season as confirmed on the official Anne with an E Twitter account.

Star of the show, 16-year-old Amybeth McNulty showed her humorous side by tweeting a season 2 AWAE spoiler that says “I die in the first episode”. McNulty, who secured the role after auditioning against 1800 other actresses will be keeping her red locks for another year – she’s actually a natural blonde.

Staying in character is fun for the 16-year old who isn’t in any hurry to grow up, “I mess around all the time. I am the child on set, which I think is great,” she tells the Irish Times. “I don’t want to lose that just yet.”

Anne With an E was adapted for the big screen by Moira Walley-Becket, best known for Breaking Bad. Walley-Becket and her all-female writing room create a gritty plot that takes the original book Anne of Green Gables to a somewhat sadder and darker version of the novel and so far, fans are loving it.

Even as season 2 was announced McNulty hinted at future seasons. “We could keep the story going for a very long time, and that’s what we’re hoping for,” she said.

As each season develops we’ll see Anne slightly more mature and facing new challenges.

“Our beloved Anne will be 16 years old when we return to this season full of romantic complications, bold adventures and dramatic discoveries,” Walley-Beckett told Deadline. “I will explore important, contemporary themes that I hope will continue to resonate with, and inspire and uplift, our audience.”

Anne With An E, Season 3, will air on Netflix in 2019
